Anchor is powering Groq Compound

Technical Dive
Oct 20

In April 2025, Groq launched Compound Beta, its first compound AI system that combines LLMs with web search and code execution for real-world tasks. Today, we’re excited to share that Compound uses Anchor to run its browser agents—bringing high-reliability, parallel, and production-grade web automation to Groq’s system.

Compound systems decide when to search the web, run tools, and compute results before returning an answer. By integrating Anchor’s managed, headful Chromium runtime, Groq can dispatch many concurrent, human-like browser sessions with stable identities, proxy controls, and observability - without the brittleness or latency of DIY stacks. The result: faster execution, fewer flaky steps, and infrastructure you can trust in production. (See Groq’s announcement for how Compound orchestrates tools; we handle the browser layer.)

“Anchor has one of the best developer experiences in the industry. The APIs are intuitive and documentation clear, such that we built our MVP in less than an hour.Anchor allows us to spin multiple browsers in parallel to power Compound, our research agent. It delivers an impressive experience that was one of the highlights of our launch.” -Ben Klieger, Builder @ Groq

Why Anchor for Compound-style Systems

  • Parallelism at scale: Spin up thousands of isolated, production-safe browsers with consistent identities.
  • Reliability for research & agents: Deterministic flows with fallbacks for dynamic sites and anti-bot surfaces.
  • Developer-first DX: Simple APIs, clear docs, and tooling that gets you from idea to MVP fast—mirroring what Groq highlighted in its Compound launch.

Groq publicly detailed how Compound routes between reasoning and tools like web search and code execution; Anchor complements that by owning the browser surface so teams don’t have to.

If you’re building research agents, data collection, or form-heavy workflows that need real browsers - with speed, stability, and scale - Anchor’s browser agents are ready to power your stack.
